Wilson Shines Again as Gauchos Thump Wolverines, 86-58
Jessica Wilson led four players in double figures with her third consecutive outstanding performance, finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals to lead the Gauchos to their largest margin of victory this season -- 28 points -- in Thursday's 86-58 win over Utah Valley State. Wilson followed up a pair of stellar performances last week that earned her Big West Player of the Week accolades with another balanced game against the Wolverines. The junior guard made 6-of-11 shots for a game-high 18 points and was the only player in the game to record 10 or more rebounds, constituting her first double-double of the season and third of her career. Wilson's seven steals tied a career-high and she also finished with a team-best five assists. Chisa Ononiwu and Jenna Green continued to shoot the ball well, making a combined 10-of-19 attempts from the floor for 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Jordan Franey added 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting. UCSB continued to shoot the ball well as a team and made 33-of-69 shots, 47.8%, including a 4-for-8 performance from downtown in the second half. The 33 field goals made was a season-high.
