Kelly Barsky, now in her third season under head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, will continue to serve as the top assistant coach after having worked with Gottlieb earlier in her career at the University of New Hampshire. "I have known and respected Kelly for a long time, and feel very fortunate that she is on board, " Gottlieb said. "She will bring an unprecedented level of organization and enthusiasm to our staff and to our team. She has a keen basketball mind, a passion for coaching and teaching student-athletes, and I know she will contribute to our success on so many levels." In her first season with the Gauchos, Barsky was instrumental in helping UCSB win the Big West regular-season and tournament titles and take the team to the NCAA Tournament. Prior to joining the Gauchos, Barsky spent her previous four seasons as an assistant at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY under head coach Brenda Milano. At SFC, Barsky served as the terriers' recruiting coordinator and was primarily responsible for guard development, scouting opponents and monitoring student-athletes' academic progress. In addition to her duties as an assistant coach, Barsky also served as the Senior Woman Administrator at St. Francis. Prior to joining the staff at St. Francis, Barsky was an assistant at the University of New Hampshire from 2002-2004. Prior to that she served as an administrative/ graduate assistant for both the UNH men's and women's basketball programs. Barsky holds a master's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport studies from New Hampshire, as well as bachelors' degrees in psychology and elementary education from Keene State College in Keene, NH. She was a captain and four year letter winner for the Owls women's basketball program and still ranks second all time in number of assists dished out. Incredibly dedicated and energetic, Barsky will have much of the same responsibilities at UCSB that she had at St. Francis, including coordinating the recruiting efforts, guard development, monitoring academic progress and scouting .
