Now with a full season of Division I basketball under their belts, Kendra Morrison and Jasmine Ware will now try to fill bigger roles for UCSB entering their second year. The Gaucho sophomores are looking to build on their respective freshman campaigns when they each had their own moments of brilliance.
Sophomore guard Jasmine Ware brought a spark of energy coming off the bench last season. Some of her standout performances came against Kansas State when she pulled down seven rebounds and against Cal State Northridge when she scored six points and dished out three assists.
Ware stepped up her game in the conference schedule as she elevated her shooting percentage from 28.8 to 30.6 percent. She also recorded eight of her season total 14 steals against Big West opponents.
At forward, Kendra Morrison had her best performance of her rookie campaign against USC when shot 5-5 from the field for 11 points.
She added a terrific scoring touch when she was on the floor with her 43.8 field goal percentage.
On defense, she led all freshmen with three blocks.
The sophomores and the rest of the Gauchos will open the 2013-14 season on Monday, Nov. 4 in the Thunderdome when they host Vanguard in an exhibition game.
Great season ticket packages are available for the Gauchos. This year's home schedule includes plenty of high-profile matchups including Arizona, Utah State, and San Diego State, a rematch of last season's WNIT game.
