Their final game on Thursday will be determined by bracket play. Also attending the eight-team tournament is Louisville, University of Central Florida, Gonzaga and Missouri State.

• UCSB Wins Home Opener
The Gauchos hosted their official home opener last Wednesday against New Mexico State. The Gauchos were led by Nicole Nesbit's 16 points – including 11 in the first half – and Sweets Underwood's 11 points. The victory marked UCSB's fifth straight in the Thunderdome dating back to last season.

• Gauchos vs. Beavers
Tuesday's pairing between UCSB and Oregon State will mark the seventh all-time between the two programs. The Gauchos own the all-time series, 4-2. The last time the teams met was in 2009 when UCSB defeated the Beavers, 59-53, in Corvallis. Sweets Underwood played 14 minutes in that game and tallied one point, one block and had six rebounds. Kirsten Tilleman played 34 minutes, as a Beaver. She had four points, two rebounds and an assist.

• About Oregon State
Oregon State enters Tuesday's pairing with a 1-1 overall record. The Beavers won their season opener against Western Washington, 71-59, but fell to the Big West's own Cal Poly, 72-62. Alyssa Martin led Oregon State in points during both pairings. She is averaging 18.0 per game while Patricia Bright is second on the team with 10 points per game while averaging 8.0 rebounds per contest.

• Against the Rest of the Tournament Field

As for the rest of the tournament field, UCSB owns a 2-0 all-time record against Gonzaga and a 1-2 record against Louisville. Missouri State and University of Central Florida would both be first-time opponents.

• Gauchos in Neutral Site Games
Last season, UCSB posted a 2-1 record in neutral site games. The program holds an all-time record of 78-53 in pairings on neutral courts. The Puerto Vallarta Hardwood Tournament of Hope marks the Gauchos' first appearance in a tournament outside of the Big West Championship since the 2007-08 season when they traveled to the Lady Grizz Holiday Classic in Missoula, Montana. They went 1-1 at the tournament.

• The Mitchell File
Head coach Carlene Mitchell is looking to build upon a great ending to her first season at the helm of the Gauchos – which included the Big West Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth – in 2012-13. In addition to compiling a 17-16 record in her first campaign, she was also named one of three finalists for the Spalding Maggie Dixon Division I Rookie Coach of the Year award, which is presented by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her career record with the Gauchos currently stands at 18-17.

• Mondays With Mitchell
Speaking of Coach Mitchell, she can be heard every Monday on a special KZSB 1290 AM segment with the Baron Ron Herron, appropriately titled "Mondays With Mitchell" at 8:50 a.m.

• Defensive Behavior
Last season UCSB limited its opposition to an average of just 52.5 points, which led the Big West and ranked ninth nationally. • Preseason Predictions
In a preseason poll of the media, UCSB was picked to finish third in the Big West Conference in 2012-13, receiving 153 points and three of 16 first-place votes. UCSB has won the Big West regular season title 14 of the past 17 seasons and has captured the tournament crown 14 times, including the 2012 title.

The players will also be remembered during Gaucho men's and women's basketball home broadcasts as well as on the Gauchos in Thirty television show and online at
