SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara women’s basketball program has signed Kristine Brance of Chipola College to a National Letter of Intent it was announced by head coach Carlene Mitchell on Thursday.
San Diego, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara’s season ended in San Diego as the Aztecs walked away with the convincing 69-46 victory in the first round of the WNIT. Though the game will go down as a loss, Gaucho history was made that night.
UC Santa Barbara finished fourth in the Big West with an 11-7 record. Earning a bye through the first round of the BigWestTournament,the Gauchos defeated Cal State Northridge 45-31 in the conference quar terfinals. In the semifinals round, UCSB fell 62-43 to Cal Poly who would go on to win their first Big West Championship.
The UC Santa Barbara women’s basketball earned an at-large bid in this year’s Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) and will visit San Diego State for the first round on Wednesday, March 20 at the Viejas Arena. Game time will be announces on Tuesday.
Anaheim, Calif. – The first half battle was close, but it was Cal Poly’s hot start to the second half that ended UC Santa Barbara’s season. The Gauchos fell to the Mustangs 62-43 in the Semifinals Round of the Big West Tournament in the Honda Center.
Irvine, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara limited Cal State Northridge to just 31 points in a convincing victory in the Big West Quarterfinals at the Bren Events Center on Wednesday night. The Gauchos showed that they benefited from their first round bye by easily advancing to the Big West Tournament Semifinals with the 45-31 win over CSUN.
UC Santa Barbara is the fourth seed entering this year’s Big West Tournament and will begin tournament play at approximately 8:30 tipoff time on Wednesday, Mar. 13th, at the Bren Events Center on the UC Irvine campus. Coincidently, the Gauchos will be starting this year’s tournament in the same arena they started in last season’s Big West Championship run.
Fullerton, Calif.— UC Santa Barbara failed to find any rhythm on the road as they loss 46-38 in Titan Gym on Thursday night. The Gauchos were forced into 18 turnovers and were held to just 16 first half points by the Titans’ defense.
