Men's Cross Country Ranked As One Of the Nation's Best

Oct. 23, 2001

For the first time in UCSB Cross Country history, the men are ranked among the top 25 teams in the country. Ahead of over 300 other division 1 programs, the Gauchos received national credit after taking 4th at the Pre-NCAA Meet. This week's Mondo Poll, a ranking based on coaches' votes from around the country, placed the Gauchos at 11th in the nation.

Though the Mondo Poll is recognized as the nation's primary source for rankings, several smaller polls have also ranked the Gauchos as one of the top teams in the country. The Strata Polland the Demetra Poll, both polls based exclusively on mathematical calculations of teams' performances during the season, have ranked the Gauchos 13th and 8th respectively.
