2001: Stepped up as the the team's 4th man at the 2000 Stanford Invite helping the Gauchos take second in the meet. 2000: He ran a PR of 15:08.90 in the 5000m at the Pomona Invitational in his first track and field season as a Gaucho. 1999: Tynes came to the UCSB cross country team as a walk on proving to play a crucial role (finished 32nd) in helping the Gauchos place third at the Big West Cross Country Championships.
