Smith had a breakout senior year posting some of the top times in the state of California...Had the ninth fastest 1600m mark with a 4:12.25 which he got en route to winning the Southern Coast Section Div. I Championships...A week later he would race the sixth fastest 3200m mark in the state at the SS Masters meet to advance to the state championships with a mark of 9:06.43...In 2005 he also was the Orange County Champion at 1600m with a personal best performance at the time of 4:13.97 adding to it later in the day with a win in the 3200m...At the 2004 State finals in Cross Country, Smith finished 40th overall.
