2005 Cross Country: Ashley became the third Gaucho male ever to win the Big West Cross Country Championship, covering the Riverside 8,000m race in a course record time of 23:51. He finished over ten seconds ahead of second place winning in convincing fashion to help the Gauchos to a 2nd place finish. Two weeks prior at the NCAA Pre-National meet he finished a bit off of his game in 79th place but nonetheless improved by twenty seconds over 2004. The first big meet of the year, the Stanford Invitational had the Gauchos go out conservatively in a pack with Ashley still managing a 10th place finish in 24:10, a seventeen second personal best. To start the season, he grabbed 2nd place behind teammate Chavez at the UCSB Home Opener versus Cal Poly SLO. His 24:32.7 over the 8,000m course is the second fastest all-time mark on the Lagoon course.
2005 Track & Fied: After suffering a knee injury in pre-season training, Chris recovered and made the best of his red-shirt season. At the Occidental Invitational Chris ran a great 5,000m clocking a time of 14:36.43, making himself the second fastest gaucho in the 5k this season.
2004 Cross Country: Chris made some waves in his sophomore season leading the Gauchos the entire season. He began his season with a win at the Fresno Invitational, taking down strong runners from Cal Poly SLO. He finished 84th at the Pre-National Meet in October and stayed strong racing to a 4th place All-Conference spot at the Big West Championships in Riverside, CA. His 8k personal best now stands at 24:21.
2004 Track & Field: Ashley finished 8th in the Big West 1500m final as a true freshman, running a personal best 3:53.06.
2003 Cross Country: Chris made the nine man Big West Championship squad as a true freshman, finishing 54th overall...recorded 8k XC personal best of 25:01.3 at the Riverside Invitational, and ran 25:38 at the Stanford Invitational.
High School Notes: Ashley qualified for the 2003 CA State meet in the 1600m by finishing 3rd at the CCS Finals in a personal best 4:15.83 ...finished 7th in the 2003 Stanford Invitational Boys Mile with a personal best 4:18.82.
