Freshman Bryan Guijarro and junior Dani Moreno finished 35th on the men’s and women’s side respectively, leading the UC Santa Barbara cross country teams at the NCAA West Regional in Seattle, Wash., on Friday.
The men’s cross country team is preparing to face off against the top teams in the nation after finishing second at the Big West Conference Championship meet two weeks ago. The 2012 NCAA West Regional Championships is being held Friday, Nov. 9 at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Wash.
Seniors Jeremy Acosta and Juan Paredes finished 106th and 118th respectively as the UC Santa Barbara men's cross country team took 27th-place in the prestigious 40-team NCAA Division I Pre-National Meet hosted by the University of Louisville on Saturday.
The UC Santa Barbara men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to the 39th edition of the Stanford Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 29th, 2012 at the Stanford Golf Course. The men’s 6K will begin at 9:50 a.m. and the women’s 6K will start at 10:30 a.m.
UC Santa Barbara Men’s Cross Country finished first edging out Southern Utah 53-59…The women took a solid fourth place with 90 points following Southern Utah (31), UC Riverside (76) and Nike Team Run LA (76).
Cal Poly’s Laura Hollander opened the women’s 5K finishing first, setting a new course record with a time of 16:42.12. On the men’s side, UC Santa Barbara’s Bhavik Kanzaria ran a time of 25:18.60, finishing fifth overall in the 8K.
The 2012 Gaucho cross country season will begin on Saturday, Sept. 1 with the UCSB Lagoon Open. Three races will be contested, beginning with an Alumni/Community 5k at 10:00 a.m. The women's Open 5k will be held next at 11:00 a.m., and the men's Open 8k will begin at 11:45 a.m. The staging area will be behind the University Center (UCEN).
