Milos Golic Named First Team All-MPSF
Dec. 1, 2009
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara junior Milos Golic earned his second consecutive First Team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honor it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Golic led UCSB and the conference in scoring for the second consecutive season. The native of Belgrade, Serbia tallied a total of 77 goals this year and averaged 2.75 per game. He was second on the team with 11 assists and 45 earned penalties or ejections.
During the 2009 season, Golic became just the fourth player in program history to surpass 200 career goals. He has posted 212, ranking fourth all-time in UCSB history. Golic needs just 32 more goals to tie Larry Mouchawar's (1980-83) school record.
Golic was also named to the 2009 MPSF All-Tournament Team after tallying nine goals for the Gauchos last weekend as they finished seventh at the conference tournament. He was the only player to be named to the All-MPSF First Team and MPSF All-Tournament Team that does not play for a top-four team (USC, UCLA, Cal and Stanford).
The Gauchos' biggest offensive threat this year, Golic posted goals in all but three games during the season and scored in every conference contest. He ended the season amidst a 16-game scoring streak. He had 22 multiple-goal games, 14 games with a hat trick or more, and three games with six goals.
He previously earned First Team All-MPSF honors in 2008 and was the conference's Newcomer of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-MPSF pick during his freshman campaign.
UCSB ended the season with a seventh-place finish at this past weekend's MPSF Tournament. The Gauchos tallied a 13-16 overall record.
