LONG BEACH, Calif. - In its second match of the day at the Long Beach State Mini Tournament, ninth-ranked UC Santa Barbara overcame a 5-3 halftime deficit to defeat 13th-ranked Pepperdine, 10-9. It was the third time this season that the Gauchos (13-6) have beaten the Waves (5-9).
Santa Barbara trailed 5-3 at the half. The Gauchos were still behind 7-6 early in the fourth quarter and that's when they really went to work, scoring four unanswered goals to take a commanding 10-7 edge. Dane Lindstrom (6:10), Ratko Paunovic (5:20), Kendall Olds (3:58) and Sean Castillo (3:27) tallied the four goals for UCSB in a span that was less than three minutes. The Gauchos then held on for the victory.
