Malibu, Calif. - Sophomore Miles Price scored a goal with 1:45 remaining in the match to give the ninth-ranked and visiting UC Santa Barbara water polo team a narrow 11-10 win over 13th-ranked Pepperdine on Sunday in Malibu, Calif.
The match was evenly fought as the teams each tallied one goal in the first quarter, two in the second and four in the third. The Gauchos also tallied four in the decisive fourth, but limited the Waves to three. Junior goalkeeper Rick Wright had a trio of saves for UCSB.
The win gives UCSB a record of 12-4 overall while Pepperdine drops to 4-7 overall. The Gauchos have beaten Pepperdine twice this season. UCSB will travel to play powerful USC on Oct. 6, 2006 in Los Angeles.
