Gauchos Split Pair on Opening Day of Inland Empire Tournament

REDLANDS, Calif. - Sophomore Robbie Bauer scored five goals to lead UC Santa Barbara to an 11-8 win in its first match at the Inland Empire Classic in Redlands, Calif., on Saturday. The Gauchos dropped a 6-5 match to the host University of Redlands later in the day.

The five goals scored by Bauer are the most scored by a UCSB player in five matches this season. In addition, sophomore Coulson Lantz and freshman Chris Lantz each scored a pair, while senior Bret DeMuth and freshman Miles Price each tallied one.

In Santa Barbara's 6-5 loss to Redlands, the Lantz brothers each scored one goal, while DeMuth, sophomore Matt Tilburg and freshman Dane Lindstrom also scored one apiece.

UCSB is now 2-3 on the season. The Gauchos will play three more matches at the Inland Empire Classic on Sunday. Santa Barbara will take-on Cal Baptist, Pomona-Pitzer and La Verne in contests held at the University of La Verne.
