HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Bellarmine College Preparatory where he played water polo for coach Lawrence Rogers...Led the Bells in steals and earned ejections...Helped lead Bellarmine to the 2009 Central Coast Section Division I Championship...Scored three goals in the title game to put Bellarmine ahead of its archrival Saint Francis, which he names as his most memorable athletic achievement...Earned Second Team All-Western Catholic Athletic League honors and was named All-CCS...Was an All-Mercury News pick as well as a Nor Cal Honorable Mention...Also competed in swimming and helped the Bells to four-consecutive WCAL Swimming and Diving Championship team titles as well as three CCS Swimming and Diving team titles...A standout in the classroom, he was named to the Dean's List, received the President's Award and earned Academic All-American accolades...Was also a member of Bellarmine's 2010 Intramural Basketball Championship team.

David Christopher Schmidt was born on May 28, 1992 in Bethesda, Maryland...Parents are Chris and Beth Schmidt...Has two older brothers, Kevin and Brian...Has yet to declare a major at UCSB...Aspires to one day be an entrepreneur and work for himself...When outside of the pool, he enjoys surfing, fishing, dancing and playing croquet...Names "Up" as his favorite movie and "Goodnight Opus" as his favorite book...Enjoys the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers...Names his parents and his older brothers as his personal heroes...Would like people to know that he once saved a life, has an exotic bird collection, and that he has seen Bigfoot, twice.
