In Sunday afternoon's game against Pepperdine, a hat trick and two assists from Derek Shoemaker and a pair of goals from Bois Jovanovic and Mitch Hamilton led to a win by nine points. The final score of the game was 17-8.
At the start of the first quarter, Pepperdine scored the first goal of the game. However, UCSB would soon respond with a goal by Derek Shoemaker made off of a 6-on-5 play, tying the game at 1-1. With almost four minutes left in the first quarter, Shoemaker scored another goal, giving UCSB a one-point lead at 2-1.
The second quarter was a slow one with only two goals from Mitch Hamilton and Shoemaker. There were four exclusions total, but neither team was able to take advantage of their 6-on-5 opportunities and turn them into additional points. The score heading into halftime was 4-1.
Pepperdine opened the second half with their second goal of the game, bringing the score to 4-2. The Gauchos responded less than a minute later with a goal by Shane Hauschild. In the next two minutes, both Nick Jordan and Liam Gaughan would find the back of the net boosting the score a couple more points to 7-2. Following UCSB's six point scoring streak, Pepperdine was finally able to respond with one more goal before the end of the quarter. The score heading into fourth was 10-3.
The first two Gaucho goals of the final quarter went unanswered for about four minutes, until Pepperdine scored a goal of their own, making the score 12-5. Two goals form Boris Jovanovic and singles from Hauschild, Tor Jensen and Anthony Buljan would put the Gauchos up by nine points at the end of the game.
