Big Matchup on Senior Day
No. 6 UC Santa Barbara (16-7, 3-3) is ready for a big showdown on its last home match of the 2013 season. Coming off a weekend with an 11-7 victory over No. 8 UC Irvine and an 11-8 loss to No. 4 Stanford, UCSB looks to gain back its momentum this week against the newly ranked No. 1 University of Pacific (16-3, 3-1). This will be the third meeting between the two programs this season, with Pacific winning both games by the scores of 8-7 and 10-8.

The Gauchos will have extra motivation to take this game as it will be the last home match for seniors, Matt Gronow, Bryce Miller and Jay Lovero.

Season Leaders
Senior, Matt Gronow, is not only a team captain, but is also leading the team in scoring with 52 goals. The season total already ties his career high in single season goals as he is in prime position to set a new mark with two more conference matches, the MPSF Championships and possibly the NCAA Championships left on the schedule. Junior Eric Van de Mortel is also being an offensive star with 42 goals of his own.

Whitelegge Continuing to Impress
Sophomore goalkeeper, Chris Whitelegge, is still leading the MPSF in total saves as the impressive keeper has tallied a grand total of 249 saves thus far in the season. The remarkable total gives him an average of 14.43 saves per game, which also tops the MPSF.

Winding Down the Season
After this week's showdown against the Tigers, the Gauchos will be on the road next weekend to face off against No. 2 UCLA at 11 a.m. That will be the last regular season match for the Gauchos as the team will then compete in the MPSF Championships which start on Nov. 29.
