• This Week In Water Polo
The UCSB men's water polo team has a busy weekend ahead as the Gauchos head south for four games. UCSB will face Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe UC Irvine on Saturday in a non-conference contest on Saturday. The same day, the Gauchos will open action at the Inland Empire Tournament against Pomona-Pitzer. On Sunday, they will wrap up the tournament with games against Redlands and Chapman.

• For The Record
UCSB went 2-0 during the season-opening UCLA Invitational last Saturday. The Gauchos downed La Verne, 23-2, and Pomona-Pitzer, 16-4. The 23 goals were the most scored by the team since a 23-5 defeat of Chapman on Sept. 9, 2007.

• Wigo Nears Career Win No. 100
Head coach Wolf Wigo, who is now in his seventh season at the helm of the UCSB men's water polo program, is just three wins away from his 100th. A three-time Olympian and former captain of the USA Water Polo Men's National Team, Wigo has compiled a 97-84 record during his tenure at UCSB.

• Five Alive
Freshman Chase Racich and sophomore Matt Gronow each posted five goals last weekend to lead the Gauchos in scoring. Gronow had a pair against La Verne and a hat trick against Pomona-Pitzer. Racich chipped in one goal in the first game before tallying a team-leading four goals to account for a quarter of UCSB's scoring in the win over Pomona. Freshman Liam Gaughan also had a great weekend, leading the team with a hat trick against La Verne and then adding a fourth goal in Saturday's second game.

• Making Moves
After being ranked seventh in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's preseason coaches' poll, UCSB has moved up one spot to No. 6 in this week's poll, which was released on Wednesday.
