Rogers and Dalhausser Take Louisville, Their Fifth AVP Win
May 29, 2007
Louisville, Ky. - The virtually unstoppable beach team of Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser topped the field to win the AVP Louisville Open this past weekend in Kentucky. The tandem has won five of six events of the 2007 season thus far.
Rogers and Dalhausser faced a familiar opponent in the finals and came away with a familiar result as they downed Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal in straight sets, 21-18, 21-16. It was the fourth time this season that Gibb and Rosenthal finished in the back seat to Rogers and Dalhausser.
On the road to the championship match, Rogers and Dalhausser took out Dain Blanton and Jason Lee (21-13, 21-8), Matt Fuerbringer and Sean Scott (21-15, 28-26), and Dax Holdren and Kevin Wong (21-13, 21-16). In the semifinals, it was Rogers and Dalhausser over Casey Jennings and Mark Williams, 21-14, 21-13.
Gibb and Rosenthal defeated Holdren and Wong, 21-18, 18-21, 15-12, in the semis.
The lone stop of the season not won by Rogers and Dalhausser was Huntington Beach in early May. Mike Lambert and Stein Metzger, who were eliminated by Holdren and Wong in the contender's bracket at Louisville, took that crown.
The AVP returns to Florida May 31-June 3 for the Tampa Open. Rogers and Dalhausser won the Miami Open back in April to kick off the season.
