Santa Barbara, Calif. - The No. 8 UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team (9-9 overall, 6-7 Mountain Pacific ports Federation) watched its two-game lead evaporate Wednesday night at Robertson Gym as No. 5 Long Beach State (13-5 overall, 8-4 MPSF) came from behind to win 23-30, 26-30, 30-19, 30-27, 15-12.
Robert Tarr and Paul Lotman led the 49ers with 18 kills apiece while Teddy Liles had a strong showing after Long Beach trailed 2-0, recording 15 kills thereafter.

Long Beach State continued to cruise in game four, but the Gauchos would keep things closer. Up 15-14, Long Beach went on a 10-4 run to pull away. UCSB brought the score to within 29-27, but a service error by Aaron Richman gave the game to the 49ers.
In the fifth game, the two teams battled to an 11-11 tie, but consecutive attack errors by Patak, Berman and Kennedy put the Gauchos at a 14-11 defecit, and a kill by Long Beach State's Robert Tarr would give the match to Long Beach.
UCSB returns to the court this Friday when they play host to UC San Diego at 7:05 at Robertson Gym.
