Men's basketball coach Bob Williams, women's basketball coach Carlene Mitchell and men's volleyball coach Rick McLaughlin will the featured guests on Tuesday's Talk'n Gauchos, which will air live from 6-7 p.m. on AM 1290 KZSB. The show originates from the Beachside Bar Café on Goleta Beach.
Both basketball coaches will discuss the Big West Conference Tournament that begins this week. The Gaucho women's team, seeded fourth and with a first round bye, will open the tourney on Wednesday night with a first round game at the Bren Events Center on the UC Irvine campus. Tip-off for that game is slated for approximately 8:20 p.m. and the opponent will be determined after Tuesday night's games between the 5-8 seeded teams.
UCSB's men's team, which is the healthiest its been all season, is seeded seventh and will go into Thursday's first round game against No. 2 Pacific with a three-game winning streak. The game at Honda Center in Anaheim will tip at noon.
All Gaucho men's and women's postseason games can be heard live on KZSB 1290 AM in Santa Barbara and online at UCSBgauchos.com. The Voice of the Gauchos, Gerry Fall, will call all the action for the men and Mitchell Clements handles the play-by-play duties for the women's games. Former UCSB great Don Ford provides color on all broadcasts.
McLaughlin's Gauchos are coming off of one of their best weekends of the year with home wins over Stanford and Pacific. UCSB has also defeated UCLA and USC in the past couple of weeks. He will discuss the busy week to come which includes a Wednesday night home game against Cal State Northridge and a Friday night home contest against Harvard.
