Gaucho Career: At the conclusion of Dave Cullum's Gaucho career, he was perhaps the most successful male distance runner in school history. As a fifth year senior, Cullum led the assault on the school track board by setting three records. Originally a slightly above average high school runner from Mission Viejo, Dave was recognized for doing everything possible to be successful in his running career. The little things paid off as a senior where he qualified for Nationals in both the 5,000m with a menacing time of exactly 14:00.00 and an 8:48.20 steeple. Due to meet scheduling it wasn't possible for Dave to run both events, however, in the steeple Dave ran well enough to earn himself All-American Honors. In cross country Dave placed 13th at Region VIII championships, which under current rules would have qualified him for nationals. Also set the record in the 1500 meter event of 3:46.84

Latest News: Made the 2003 USA World Cross Country Tream after taking 8th at the USA Championships. Took 2nd at the USA Club championships the same year. During the 2000 USA Olympic Trials, Cullum made the finals in the steeplechase.
