Curry elevated the Gauchos vertical jump corp in 2015, breaking into the All-Time list with his 16'1.25 leap. A clutch performer, Curry took home the Silver medal at the Big West Championships in just his freshman year. Look for him to climb the All-Time list and challenge for an NCAA First Round bid and beyond.
Curry competed in eight meets during his freshman campaign in the UCSB blue. Opened the year with back-to-back pole vault wins at the Round-Up and All-UC competitions, leaping 15'5 to win the All-UC. Vaulted 15'3 to place third at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic. Jumped 15'11 to place third at the Stanford Invite. Recorded a 15'9 jump at the Big West Challenge, finishing third. Jumped a season and lifetime best at the Bryan Clay Invite, clearing 16'1.25. Tied for second at the Big West Championship, jumping 16'0.75.
Curry joins the Gauchos as one of the most coveted prep vaulters in the country. As a junior, Curry recorded a season best jump of 15'10 at the CIF State Championships to take the third. He upped his personal best to 16' as a senior and ranked 6th in California and 31st in the nation among prep jumpers. He is the Rancho Santa Margarita school record holder in the pole vault. As a junior he was the Orange County Champion in the pole vault recording a leap of 15'10.
Parents are Katherine and Dana Curry...Has three siblings, Max, Quinn and Madison...Interested in majoring in the sciences at UCSB...Enjoys surfing, soccer and anything competitive...really enjoys "extreme" sports...Favorite moments in sport were winning the CIF pole vault title and placing third at state.
