2016-2017 Track

Competed in eight competitions for his debut season in a Gaucho uniform. Clocked his first sub-15 performance in the 5000m at the UCLA Legends Invite, clocking 14:55.92 for 3rd in his heat. Took third at the Big West Challenge a week following, running 8:36.46. Lowered his 5000m best again the week after that at the Bryan Clay Invitational, running 14:47.93. Yousef would conclude the season on a high note with an inspiring 6th place finish in the 10000m at the Big West Conference Championships in 31:59.77. A tactical first half would keep the field tightly bunched and poised for a fast finish, and Yousef would power home valiantly, finishing the second half of his race almost two minutes faster than the first half. He would also go on to finish just outside scoring position in the 5000m the next day in 10th place.
