Williams captured the Big West decathlon title during his sophomore year, also scoring in the javelin and 110HH at the conference finale. Establishing himself as one of the top overall athletes in the conference, Williams has scored 28 Big West points in two seasons as a Gaucho. Look for him to challenge NCAA bids in the javelin and decathlon in 2016.
Williams competed in nine competitions during his sophomore campaign in the UCSB blue. He won the All-UC Championships in the 110HH, finishing with a time of 14.95. Also at the All-UC he threw a mark of 136'9 in the discus. He pulled three event duty at the UCR Spring Track Classic, placing fourth in the javelin with a throw of 189'8, recording a new best in the shot of 42'10 and placing third in the 110HH, clipping 15.01. He opened the season in the decathlon at the Mt. Sac Relays, scoring a then-best 6578. He used then-PR's of 11.40w in the 100m, 51.45 in the 400m and 39.61m in the discus to boost his score. Williams won the Cal Poly Dual in the 110HH with a new lifetime best effort of 14.91, setting the stage for the Big West meet. At the Big West Championships he locked into a see-saw battle in the decathlon, using a strong second day to claim the BW title. Williams day two marks were 14.99, 129'5, 13'5.25, 185'4 and 5:05.20. He came back one week later and placed fourth in the Big West javelin final with a throw of 200'10. He also qualified for the 110HH final, where he placed seventh overall, scoring 17 points for the Gauchos.
Williams made a big impression in his first season as a Gaucho, placing third in the javelin and fifth in the decathlon at the Big West Championships. He scored a personal best of 6,271 points to take the fifth spot at the Big West Combined Championships. Came back the following weekend and put 20 feet on his personal best in the javelin to take the Big West bronze medal, throwing 195'5. Scored 6184 to take 8th at the California Invitational Multi-Events in the decathlon.
Williams attended Vista Murrieta High School where was named the Press-Enterprise Athlete of the Year after guiding the Broncos to the 2011 CIF Title in football. He qualified for the CIF State Championships in the 110H in 2012 as a senior and would go on to take 6th in the event in the finals. As a senior, he was the Southwestern League Champion in the 110H and would go on to take 7th in the 300m hurdles at the CIF-SS D 1 Finals. For his efforts he was named the Citrus Belt Athlete of the Year and the Vista Murrieta Athlete of the Year. He earned All-Southwestern League honors as a safety and as a hurdler. Twice named to All-CIF team as a safety. Holds the 110H and 300m hurdle records at Vista Murrieta. Williams was a member of 10 teams that won league or CIF championships. High school coaches were Coley Candaele, Davis Olson and Bob Cape.
