Baier impressed with a seventh place 3,000m Steeplechase finish in his Big West debut. He is one of five Big West scorers in the event who are on the current UCSB roster. Look for him to challenge his PR of 9:23.60 early. And often.

He ran a 9:32.39 at the Big West Challenge, taking fourth in a talented field. Turned in an impressive Big West debut at the outdoor track championships, taking seventh for the Gauchos after setting a new personal best in the 3,000m steeplechase in 9:23.60. Baier came back in the 5,000m and narrowly missed the scoring column, finishing in ninth with PR 15:10.41.
