Martin Records 2nd Fastest Time in 800 Meter Prelims at U.S. Olympic Trials
EUGENE, ORE. - UC Santa Barbara's Ryan Martin ran the second fastest time in the 800 meter preliminaries at the United States Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., on Friday afternoon. Martin will run in the semifinals on Saturday.
Martin ran a 1:46.92 in the second heat at the trials. The top time in the event's preliminary round was recorded by Tyler Mulder of Nike/Oregon TC Elite who clocked a 1:46.81, also in the second heat. Nicholas Symmonds of Nike/Oregon TC Elite was third in 1:46.94.
The top-16 finishers on day one of the 800 move on to the semifinals which will be run on Saturday afternoon. The first heat will go off at 4:45 p.m. Martin will run in the second heat. The finals will be run at 7:47 p.m. on Monday, June 25.
