Martin Finishes Eighth in 800 Meter Final at World University Games
UC Santa Barbara's Ryan Martin finished eighth in the final of the 800 meters at the World University Games on Sunday.
Martin, who will be a senior in 2011-12, ran a 1:51.89 in the final. The race was won by Australia's Lachian Renshaw in a time of 1:46.36. China's Haining Teng was second at 1:46.62, Kenya's Fred Samoei was third at 1:46.72 and American Casimir Loxsom was fourth at 1:46.73.
Martin, a two-time All-American, qualified for the final after finishing second to Samoei in his semifinal heat.
