The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team will host the first annual UCSB Classic this weekend at the UCSB Recreation Center courts. The Gauchos will welcome Sacramento State, LMU and Big West rival Cal Poly to the event.
UCSB will kick off the event at 9 a.m. on Friday with the Gauchos taking on last year's Big Sky Championship finalist Sacramento State. They will continue play on Saturday at 9 a.m. matching up against LMU and then close out the event on Sunday at 1 p.m. vs. Cal Poly.
"The UCSB Classic provides our young team with a great opportunity to compete against some tough regional opponents as well as get a taste for a dual match environment," head coach Marty Davis exclaimed.
The format for the UCSB Classic will be a flighted round robin tournament. There are eight singles flights (A through H) and four doubles flights (A through D).
