UC Santa Barbara vs. Cal Poly
at the UCSB Recreation Center courts
Big West Finale
The newly honored No. 74 UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team (3-1 in Big West) has its sights set on Cal Poly this Wednesday as the Gauchos will host their last conference quarrel of the year. UCSB will take the court at 1:30 as the team looks to secure second place in the Big West conference.
What's at Stake?
If the Gauchos (6-10 overall) are to win, they would lock up a regular season second place finish and a first round bye in the Big West tournament that will take place at Indian Wells on April 17-19. Moreover, should Pacific defeat UC Irvine on April 4, the UCSB men would finish in a first place tie with the Anteaters. The Gauchos will look for some home town support as the final push of the regular season comes to an end.
The Cal Poly men's tennis team will cruise into Santa Barbara tomorrow with a 6-8 overall record. In Big West action, the Mustangs (1-2 in Big West) have had it tough, dropping matches against UC Irvine and Pacific this year. Their only win in conference play came on Feb. 28 when Cal Poly dismantled UC Riverside 6-1. However, the Mustangs have had it worse on the road, totaling an unimpressive 2-7 record. The Gauchos will hope to take advantage of their home court advantage as they host the Anteaters at the UCSB Recreation Center courts.
