Rough Around the Edges
The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team got back on winning track last weekend surviving against Darmouth to steal their third win at home. The Gauchos bounced back after losing the doubles point by posting five wins in the singles column to trump the visiting Big Green, 5-2. It was a much needed victory for the Gauchos as the UCSB men had been edged 4-3 in the last four matches. Altogether, the Gauchos are 5-9 on the season and a lowly 2-5 on the road. After Sunday's win against Dartmouth, UCSB will look for their second win in a row since Feb. 20, as they travel to Stockton to take on the University of Pacific. The Gauchos will not stay long as they pack their bags and travel to Fresno State the following day to clash with the Bulldogs on the back end of a two match road trip.
The No. 58 University of Pacific's men's tennis team has crept its way into the ITA rankings in the last couple of weeks. The Tigers stand at 7-5 on the season, but have recently won their last five of six matches. In that span, they have knocked off LMU, BYU, Nevada and Yale. Yet, in their most recent match, Fresno State was scorched by No. 26 Washington, 7-0. The Tigers will play Montana before hosting Santa Barbara at the Hal Nelson Tennis Center at 1:00 p.m.
Beware of Bulldogs
The Fresno State men's tennis team has been rolling as of late, reaching their highest ITA ranking of the year at No. 39. The Bulldogs bolster an 8-6 record on the season with a 3-2 record at home. Last weekend, the Fresno State men took two of three at the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic. The Gauchos will have their hands full Sunday against last year's WAC Player of the Year Rudolf Siwy and the scorching hot Bulldogs.
