Men's Tennis Hosts No. 47 Ranked University of San Diego Saturday

Feb. 4, 2011

Santa Barbara Calif - Fresh off a shutout victory over No. 62 Troy at the NCAA National Indoor Championships, UC Santa Barbara men's tennis hopes to carry some momentum into Saturday's home opener against No. 47 University of San Diego.

USD is lead by Dean Jackson, a very talented lefty from Germany who is currently the #31 ranked singles player in the country.

"If past years are an indicator the match should be very competitive," said head coach Marty Davis.

The Gauchos defeated USD two years ago 4-3 at home, but dropped a heartbreaking 2-5 decision last season in which they held match points on two different courts that would have changed the outcome.

The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Recreation Center courts on campus.
