Home Opener Rescheduled
The UC Santa Barbara men¹s tennis home opener against 75th-ranked Santa Clara, scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27, has been postponed because of rain. It has been rescheduled for the Recreation Center Courts on Thursday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. The Gauchos¹ Feb. 17 match against Loyola Marymount now becomes the home opener. Prior to the contest with the Lions, UCSB will play a pair of matches in Seattle, taking on 37th-ranked Washington and Ball State.

Last Week
UC Santa Barbara lost their last week¹s season opener against Hawai¹I, 4-3. Although the Gauchos came up short in their season debut, they did not come away empty handed. Before losing four of the six singles matches, Santa Barbara swept the doubles point. Coach Davis believes that the doubles point is crucial in setting the stage for the rest of the match. If the Gauchos can continue to win the doubles point, they will be tough to beat. In his first collegiate match, freshman Alexander Konigsfeldt defeated Jeff Fitch, 6-2, 6-3, while also winning his doubles match. Teammate Josh Finkelstein also came out victorious, beating UH's Craig Faulk at No. 6, 6-4, 7-5.

In the Coming Weeks
Santa Barbara will travel to Seattle on Friday, Feb. 8, to face No. 37-ranked Washington at 5:00 pm. The Gauchos will then stay in Washington to battle Ball State on Saturday Feb. 9 at 3:00 pm.
