SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The UCSB men's team finished up its pre-season schedule this weekend, squaring off against regional opponent San Francisco, and Big West rivals UC Riverside and Cal Poly. One senior and four of the Gauchos' much-improved freshmen class participated in last weekend's tournament hosted by Cal Poly.
Carsten Thorstensen and Scott Hohenstein partnered to topple the top doubles pairs from both USF and Riverside, 9-7 and 8-5, respectively. Fellow freshmen Max Taylor posted a solid 6-3,7-5 win against UCR's Justin Montgomery and Grant Robertson played well, earning a 7-6, 6-4 win over Andrew Hogan of USF.
The Gauchos kick off the regular season January 21st when they host Westmont and Fresno Pacific in a double header at the UCSB tennis courts beginning at 9:00 a.m.
