SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - UCSB junior Max Taylor and freshman Maher Zeidan had the only wins for the Gauchos Friday afternoon at the Cal Poly Classic against a tough Sacramento State squad.

Taylor, who had been down a set and dug himself into a four-love hole in the second, came back to defeat Sven-David Rueff 6-7, 7-5, 6-2, in Flight 3 singles competition. Zeidan also prevailed against the Hornets' Ronan Conlon, 6-1, 6-1.

Philip Therp, Jack Hui, Nigel Barton and Eric Lee all lost their opening matches in the tournament as the Gauchos drop 7 of 9 on Friday.

In men's Flight 1 doubles, the duo of Hejazi and Therp fall to Anton Stryhas and Kiryl Harbatsiuk, 8-5, after putting on an impressive performance at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships last week. The Gauchos concluded the day winless in men's doubles action.
