Senior Nick Brotman Wins the Back Draw of the Wilson/ITA Regional Championship

MALIBU, Calif. - After dropping his opening round match to San Diego State's Christian Groh, UCSB senior Nick Brotman won his next five matches to win the backdraw of the 2005 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships hosted by Pepperdine last weekend.
Brotman beat University of Arizona sophomore Bruno Alcala 6-4, 6-3 in the finals of the consolation bracket, improving his overall record to 6-2 on the year. To get there, Brotman bested Alex Sundling of UC Irvine (6-1, 6-2), Matt Phillips of Loyola Marymount (6-4, 6-2), Antony Gomez of San Diego State (6-4, 6-2) and Mustafa Ulukan of Irvine (6-2, 6-2).
Senior Ivan d'Argence and freshman Carsten Thorstensen each advanced to the back draw quarterfinals. Arizona's Peter Zimmer defeated d'Argence 6-4, 6-3. while Thorstensen fell to UC Irvine's Aaron Eillis 6-4, 6-1.
