SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team crushed Big West rival the University of Pacific 7-0 Saturday afternoon at UCSB's Recreation Center Courts. After rallying to win the doubles point, the Gauchos won all six in singles to remain perfect in conference play.
Resuming Big West action, the Gauchos improve to 10-7 overall and 2-0 in conference dual meet action this season, while the Tigers' record dropped to 11-5.
In doubles, Nick Brotman and Anders Dalskov defeated Jorgen Vestli and Tim Koniarski 8-6, at No. 1 and Carsten Thorstensen and Scott Hohenstein teamed to handle Austin Kakar and Ahad Ebrahim 8-0 at No. 3.
In singles action, Brotman was outstanding once again at the No.1 spot, beating Vestli 6-7, 6-2, (10-3) for his second win over a nationally ranked player this season. Bijan Hejazi and Dalskov posted impressive victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively, and the Gauchos last three singles players all defeated their opponents in straight sets.
Next up for UCSB is another conference opponent in UC Davis on Sunday. The match will begin at 12:30 at the Rec Cen courts. The Gauchos finish league play against UC Irvine on the road April 15th.
