UCSB Wins Fourth Straight, Defeats Santa Clara 5-2

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara men's tennis team cruised past visiting Santa Clara by a final count of 5-2 Wednesday afternoon at UCSB's Recreation Center Courts. After winning the doubles point, the Gauchos won the first three in singles to clinch the victory.

With their fourth victory in a row, the Gauchos improve to 9-6 overall and 1-0 in conference dual meet action this season.

In doubles, Nick Brotman and Anders Dalskov defeated Kevin McQuaid and Blane Shields 8-1, at No. 1. UCSB's Carsten Thorstensen and Scott Hohenstein defeated A.J. Kerin and Chris Iwamura 8-3, at No. 3 to claim the point after Elad Stern and Grant Robertson did not finish their matchup with Jan Macek and Bobby Rasmussen in the second spot.

In singles action, Brotman, Bijan Hejazi and Dalskov won the first three matches, with Brotman--the reigning Big West Player of the Week--turning in another impressive win at the No. 1 spot, winning in straight sets.

Sophomore Anders Dalskov secured the clinching 4th point for UCSB and is now an incredible 12-2 in dual match play this season.

Next up for UCSB is No.73 Harvard Thursday, March 30 at 1:30 p.m., followed by a showdown with league-rival Pacific at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1. Both matches will be played at the Recreation Center Courts.

For the UOP match, free Hamburger Habit burgers will be provided for all in attendance.
