No. 14 Washington Sweeps the 72nd-Ranked Visiting Gauchos, 7-0

SEATTLE, Wash. - The 14th-ranked University of Washington men's tennis team was too much for 72nd-ranked UC Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon as the Huskies swept the Gauchos in Seattle, 7-0.
The only UCSB win on the afternoon came at No. 2 doubles where the freshman tandem of Carsten Thorstensen and Scott Hohenstein defeated Klaus Jank and Andrew Gerst, 8-4. At No. 1 doubles, Nick Brotman and Anders Dalskov played their Huskie adversaries, Alex Slovic and Daniel Chu, the 45th-ranked doubles team in the nation, tough, but lost 9-7.
At No. 1 singles, Brotman forced Slovic, ranked 32nd nationally, to three sets before losing 6-0, 3-6, 6-0. The five other singles matches went two sets.
UCSB, which drops to 4-5 on the season, will play another Pac Ten opponent when it returns home to host the University of Oregon on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1:00 p.m. on the Rercreation Center Courts.
