Santa Barbara, Calif. - Lucas Sudow was named Big West Co-Athlete of the Week along with Fabian Matthews of UC Irvine. The freshman from Helsingborg, Sweden, had a strong performance last weekend, going undefeated in the Gauchos' matches against BYU and Utah.

In Saturday's dual match against BYU, Sudow and doubles partner Benjamin Recknagel defeated Georgy Batrakov and Daniel Hwang, 8-7. He also won in No. 6 singles, defeating Spencer Smith in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, (10-7). Sudow was the only Gaucho to win both his doubles and singles matches.

Sudow continued his winning streak in Sunday's match against No. 53 Utah. He and Recknagel tallied another win against Artem Strunnikov and Tim Allin, 8-4. Sudow also beat Allin in No. 5 singles, 3-6, 7-5, (6-3).

Currently undefeated in singles with a record of 4-0, Sudow is tied for most wins with junior Taylor Chavez Goggin. In addition to his success in singles, he also has the most doubles wins for the season with teammate Benjamin Recknagel.

Sudow will have a chance to better his undefeated singles record when the Gauchos compete in their first conference match against at UC Riverside on Saturday.
