SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Gauchos (2-2) found themselves tied at 3-all for the third time in four matches this season and managed to pull through on their home courts for their second win of the season on Saturday. The Gauchos shook off a slow start in doubles and won four of six singles matches in the 4-3 victory against Loyola Marymount (2-1).

The match came down to the wire, culminating in an exciting finish at court 2, where junior #79 Tobias Galskov faced off against LMU's Felix Van Kann.

"We started slow but had a very physical finish in the last match," said Coach Marty Davis at the end of the match. Coach Davis went on to cite Galskov's fitness as the "difference in the [last] match today."

The junior transfer lost his first set 4-6 but came back to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the Gaucho victory and hand visiting LMU their first loss of the season.

The Lions had the upper hand early in the match, winning the doubles point in dominating fashion. The Gauchos were swept in doubles play against an LMU squad that has yet to lose a doubles match this season.

In singles, freshman Erik Johnsson put UCSB on the board with a win in straight sets at the No. 5 position to notch his team-leading third win of the season.

The Gauchos quickly found themselves down 1-3 after losses at courts 3 and 4 before tying the match at 3-3.

Freshman Teague Hamilton posted his first win of the dual match season on court 6, winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-5 and junior Ziad Sultan defeated LMU's David Doehring 6-4, 6-4 to set up the showdown at court 2, where Tobias Galskov was the hero for the Gauchos.

UCSB faces another tough test on Sunday when thePac-12's Arizona Wildcats come to the Rec Cen Courts. The Wildcats have already played 11 games this season and hold a 6-5 record, with their latest win coming against Big West rival Cal Poly on Friday.

"Tomorrow gets even tougher, we play the University of Arizona, a Pac-12 powerhouse team," stated Coach Marty Davis. "It's a rare opportunity for us, we don't get that many Pac-12 teams here on campus at UCSB, so we'll be looking forward to that one," Davis continued.

The match begins at 12pm on Sunday at the Rec Cen Courts.
