SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – After rolling past Loyola Marymount in last weekend's match at home, the No. 70 Gauchos (2-1) will head on an important road trip to the Bay Area where they will face WCC opponents, University of San Francisco Dons (2-2) and No. 37 Santa Clara Broncos (5-3, 0-1 WCC).

In their most recent game, the Gauchos battled to gain the doubles point with a close win by duo Benjamin Recknagel and Miles Seemann in the tie-breaker match and went on to take five of six singles matches to defeat Loyola Marymount, 6-1.

In the early goings of the season, the Gauchos have seen strong performances by their veterans and newcomers alike despite struggling at No. 3 UCLA. After UCSB's last match, Coach Marty Davis said he believes his team "still was a ways to go" though they "are getting better," and spoke about the improvements he saw in his team after their sole loss on the season.

The Gauchos will have an opportunity to bolster their record in a two-game road trip to Northern California.

UCSB's first stop will be at the Cal Club to take on the University of San Francisco on Saturday, Feb. 16. The Dons recently snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Sacramento State and are undefeated at home. USF has a veteran lineup with four returning seniors, including Thai Tu, who started the year ranked 98th in the country and has since fallen out despite a 3-1 record at the No. 1 position.

Due to the cancellation of their match against Cal on Sunday, the Gauchos will have a day off before heading south to Santa Clara to take on the No. 37-ranked Broncos. SCU lost their most recent match in an upset by No. 50 BYU and have lost a total of three matches on the year – all to teams ranked in the top-50 nationally. The Broncos boast nationally ranked player, #69 John Lamble, who has amassed a 2-4 record in dual matches at the No. 1 position.  A win over Santa Clara would be a rankings booster for the Gauchos and is a critical match early on the season.

Action is set to begin at 1:00 PM (PST) at the Cal Club against San Francisco. Monday's match is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM (PST) at the Degheri Tennis Center in Santa Clara.
