LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Senior Benjamin Recknagel moved on Thursday at the SoCal Intercollegiate Championships while Axel Bouillin dropped his match before an unexpected rain delay hit and postponed the rest of the field's games, including Gaucho Mbonisi Ndimande's match.
Recknagel, who is seeded fifth in the tournament, was able to make quick work of his opponent and completed his match in straight sets against Corey Smith of USC 6-3, 6-0. He will move on to face UCLA's Warren Hardie in the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, Sophomore Axel Bouillin lost 6-3, 6-4 to APU's Jan Meyer to be eliminated from singles play in the main draw.
Mbonisi Ndimande began his match against BYU's Keaton Cullimore but was unable to finish before the delay and will continue Friday at 10am.
