SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The men coming off a dramatizing defeat from last weekend were determined to win today. Freshman Chris Good won both the 200 back (1:50.38) and the 200 IM (1:54.79). Senior Grant Hurst came away with a double win as well in the 200 free (1:42.51) and 500 free (4:39.73).Senior Garrett Porteous had an amazing 1000 free swim (9:32.94) taking first and beating his personal best time. TK Erwin took first in the 100 back (51.92) and Blake Nilsson beat UCSD in the 100 breast in a close race (58.16). Junior Pat Cary, school record holder, defended his top rankings once again in the 200 fly (1:50.74). The Gauchos gave up two wins to Lars Nordstrom of UCSD in the 50 and 100 free events. Pat Ota came in a very close second to Nordstrom in the 50 free (21.58), but was out touched. Dan Leelachat placed first in the 200 breast (2:08.57) teammate Brandon Gladys also finished first in the 100 fly (52.44).
The Gauchos head on a short road trip to face Northridge on Friday November 18 at 11am and the University of Arizona on November 19 at 1pm in Arizona.
