A recent graduate of Stanford, Santa Barbara native Danny Beal joins the Gaucho coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach this season. At Stanford, Beal was a seven-time All-American earning the accolades in the 200 free three times, the 800 free relay three times and the 500 free once. He also helped set the Cardinal 800 free relay record in 2007, the same season Stanford finished second at the NCAA Championships. This past summer, Beal participated in the U.S. Olympic Trials where he finished seventh in the 200-meter freestyle (1:47.56), just one place away from making the U.S. Olympic Team. He was also a 2004 Olympic Trials qualifier as well as a 2004 National Junior Team member. A 2004 graduate of Dos Pueblos High School, Beal was a 17-time high school All-American and was also a CIF Champion in both the 200 free and 100 fly. Beal graduated from Stanford with a degree in history/political science.
