Santa Barbara, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara swim team is getting ready to compete at the UNLV Invitational. The team's midseason taper meet will take place at the Buchanan Natatorium in Las Vegas beginning Nov. 29 at 9:00am and continuing through Dec. 1.
Head coach Matt Macedo, as well as, assistant coaches Ellie Monobe and Mark Stori are looking forward to seeing how the team will perform as they focus on preparing for the MPSF conference championship in February.
"Up to this point, I think the team has done a very good job," said Coach Monobe. "Over the last couple weeks, we have really ramped up the intensity of training and put a big emphasis on the details. With a little rest, I think the group will respond positively and we'll get to see some program top ten times. It has been a great few months getting to work with our large group of rookies and I'm excited to see them step into their roles by making an impact on the team."
Gaucho captains Logan Hotchkiss, Mason Tittle, An Nguyen, and Heaven Quintana are preparing to lead the team to success by repeating last year's victory. The team is aiming to take first place in team score for both the men's and women's side. Many members of the team are also looking to post times that will qualify for the NCAA Championship meets.
Coach Stori also commented, "I'm looking forward to some fast swims at the UNLV Invite, the team has been training well this fall and they are definitely ready to get up at race."
