Small Numbers, Big Times at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – UCSB had just four Gauchos representing the blue and gold at the Texas Invitational today, but they certainly made their mark amongst some of the fastest swimmers in college swimming.

UCSB alumnus Andrea Ward took first in the women's 100 butterfly, coming in at a time of 51.93.

The men's 100 butterfly "B" Final featured Yoessef Tibazi (47.97) taking 14th and the "C" Final featured Mickey Mowry (48.75), who took 23rd.

Katie Records (2:01.67) went on to take fifth in the women's 200 IM. Her prelims time of 2:01.34 earned her the NCAA "B" time standard.

In the "C" Final of the women's 50 freestyle, Andrea Ward took 22nd with a time of 23.56.

The men's 50 freestyle consolation final featured Chase Lemley (20.29), who placed 13th in the event.

Tomorrow, for Day 2 of the Texas Invitational, catch Andrew Barmann in the 400 IM, Andrea Ward and Chase Lemley in the 200 freestyle, Katie Records and Yoessef Tibazi in the 100 breaststroke, and Mickey Mowry in the 100 backstroke.
