    As Day Three of the 2015 MPSF Swimming Championships comes to an end, the UC Santa Barbara men have maintained a prominent lead, while the Gaucho women trail behind Hawaii in second. With a tough day of competition behind them, the Gauchos left the East L.A. College pool having accomplished two individual event victories and another new school record.

    After a second day of competition at East Los Angeles College the Gauchos have certainly made their mark at MPSF Championships with two first-place finishes, two new school records, and a total of 272.5 points that contributed to the overall UC Santa Barbara score.
  • UCSB Men’s Swimming in the Midst of their “Best Early Season Recruiting Ever”

    As the 2014-15 season begins to wrap up, coaches Gregg Wilson and Matt Macedo have been hard at work recruiting some of the top swimmers in the nation to be a part of the program at UCSB in the fall. The men’s team has signed five swimmers so far.
  • UCSB Men Come Out Victorious, Women Fall to Cal Poly in Final Duel Meet of the Season

    The final duel meet of the 2014-15 season featured a match-up between UC Santa Barbara and rival Cal Poly. The Gaucho men won 12 out of 14 events, resulting in a 169-110 victory over the Mustangs. Senior captain Wade Allen led the team, winning all four of his events handedly. Despite the addition scored Mustang diving events, the women only lost to Cal Poly by less than 20 points, the final score being 135-152.
  • UCSB’s Dylan Kubick Named MPSF Athlete of the Week

    UC Santa Barbara sophomore Dylan Kubick was awarded the MPSF Male Athlete of the Week after his victories at UNLV last Saturday. Kubick won the 200 freestyle (1:40.93) and 200 IM (1:52.25), and also took fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.81). This is Kubick’s first career MPSF honor. Kubick’s points contributed to a huge victory over the men of UNLV, a feat that hasn’t been achieved in over a decade.
  • UCSB Men Victorious Over Pacific in their Senior Day Meet

    The final home meet of the men’s season featured a duel between the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos and the Pacific Tigers. UCSB emerged victorious scoring 131 over Pacific’s 108. The UCSB women engaged in a three-way duel meet with the women of Pacific and Loyola Marymount. The Gaucho women beat LMU 187-73, but fell to Pacific 108-149. The men’s team also honored their seven seniors today.
  • UCSB Men Emerge Victorious over UNLV, Women Fall in a Narrow Defeat

    The UCSB men’s and women’s swimming teams left the beautiful Santa Barbara weather this weekend to take on the swim team of UNLV in a tight match that resulted in a win for the Gaucho men. Strong swims in the distance and breaststroke events put the men up over UNLV 151.5-110.5, with the women narrowly missing the win over the Rebels, scoring 128-134.
  • UCSB’s Andy Castilleja Named MPSF/Turbo Male Athlete of the Week

    After stellar performances last Saturday in both the 100 breaststroke (55.97) and 200 breaststroke (2:03.00) Andy Castilleja has been named the MPSF Athlete of the Week for a second time this season.
  • UCSB Men Victorious Over Air Force Academy in First Meet of 2015

    The UCSB men’s swimming team had a strong start for 2015 in their victory over the men’s team of the U.S. Air Force Academy. Each race counted in this tight match, with UCSB finishing with 138 points, followed by the Air Force Academy at 121 points.
  • Gauchos Wrap Up Texas Invite with Stellar Performances in 100 Free and 200 Fly

    The third and final day of the Texas Invitational featured some of the top Gaucho swimmers in their top events. After tallying results from all three days, a total of eight NCAA time standards were reached. At the halfway point in the season, this is a terrific achievement for the Gauchos.

    The second day of the Texas Invitational was a quiet one for the Gauchos, as they gear up to swim fast on the last day of the meet tomorrow. Competition was at an all-time high, with some of the fastest swimmers in the nation competing from schools like USC, Harvard, and University of Texas.

    After three long days at the A3 Performance Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, the Gaucho men emerge on top and the women finish in third behind San Diego State University and UCLA. Stellar performances in the breaststroke, IM, and sprint freestyle events helped the Gauchos speed past their competition and put up some of the best times of the season.
  • Men Further Their Lead, Women Ranked Third Going Into Final Day of A3 Performance Invitational

    After Day 2 of the A3 Performance Invitational the Gaucho men are on a run and no one seems to be able to catch them. UCSB’s men’s swimming team scored second or first in every event of the second day of racing, giving them a 400 point lead over the rest of the field. The Gaucho women totaled 606 points at the end of the day, sitting them in third behind San Diego State and UCLA.
  • UCSB Men Lead, Women Take Second After Day 1 of A3 Performance Invitational

    The Gaucho men and women had a very successful first day at the A3 Performance Invitational at UC San Diego. At the end of the day, the UCSB men lead the pack by over 140 points. The women are in second, trailing behind San Diego State by 90 points.

    The UCSB men’s and women’s swim teams faced off against Wyoming today at Campus Pool in their final home meet of 2014. Both teams swam hard against a strong Wyoming team, with the men finishing 130-132, and the women finishing 106-154.

    In an exciting meet featuring one of UCSB’s rivals, UC San Diego, the Gauchos took a commanding lead from the start, winning the meet with an overall score of 301-204, with the men scoring 151-103 and the women scoring 156-101.
  • UCSB Men and Women Sweep Cal Poly at Home

    The rain held off for the first co-ed duel meet of the season between UCSB and Cal Poly. The Gauchos emerged victorious for both the men’s and women’s teams, with the men winning 168-109, and the women winning 150-144, for an overall score of 318-253.
  • UCSB Diver Erich Brodbeck Accepted to #2 Materials Science Graduate Program in the World

    UCSB Diver Erich Brodbeck was recently accepted into the Materials Science and Chemical Engineering Graduate Program here at UCSB. Ranked as the #2 Materials Science program in the world, Brodbeck was one of just four people accepted into the program this school year.
  • Gaucho Men Butterfliers Shine in Defeat to USC

    In their 2014-15 season opener, the UCSB men’s swimming team dueled USC to a 152-107 finish with the Trojans finishing on top. Additionally, ten new swimmers swam made their Gaucho debuts today.
