LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The UCSB men's and women's dive teams headed down south over the weekend to compete at the UCLA Invitational. The Gauchos posted three season-best scores in the one-meter and three-meter competitions.
Day one featured the men's one-meter dives and the women's three-meter dives. For the Gauchos, Erich Brodbeck posted a score of 218.60 which would top all other UCSB divers for the day. Following right behind Brodbeck was Ryan Gerard who scored 200.85. Nic Grantham had a season-best score on the one-meter competition with a score of 196.15. Sam Thomas-Pate rounded out the men divers with a score of 152.05.
The women's three-meter saw freshman Hannah Tomp score a season-best 215.95. Quetzal Moreno was close behind her with a score of 212.05. Tripti Singhal posted a 196.90 and Caila Baltas had a score of 192.30.
Day two of diving had the men competing in the three-meter dives. Grantham led the pack of Gauchos with a result of 192.65. Brodbeck was right on his heels with a final score of 188.20.
For the women, Moreno marked a season-best score with a 198.15 on the one-meter board. Monika Terry finished with a score of 191.10 and Tomp scored 177.70.
On the final day of competition, the men and women performed platform dives.
Gerard, Grantham, and Brodbeck were all very close to qualifying for the final with scores of 182.9, 180.4 and 172.55, respectively.
For the women, Moreno lead the way for the Gauchos once again as she scored a team-high of 173.95.
UCSB swimming and diving will take on UNLV Saturday, Jan. 19 in Las Vegas.
