SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Photo Gallery of Harder Stadium Improvements
After months of renovations and upgrades, UC Santa Barbara's Harder Stadium is now set to host the 2010 NCAA Men's College Cup this Friday and Sunday. The historic stadium now features the brand new Curtice Gate - which features a new concessions area - a state of the art scoreboard and video board, a resurfaced Meredith Field, and a renovated press box.
The Curtice Gate is a new ticket-holder entrance that is situated on the corner of Harder South and Stadium Road and opens up to the expanse of Meredith Field at Harder Stadium with the Santa Ynez Mountains as a backdrop. The gate is named for the legendary former UCSB football coach and Athletics Director "Cactus" Jack Curtice. Ground was broken on the gate on July 30 and it was completed this past Friday, Dec. 10.
The new concessions trailer, which was located at the North end of Harder Stadium for most of the soccer season, has been relocated near the Curtice Gate entrance, where it will take up permanent residence.
Not far from Curtice Gate is the new video scoreboard that will make its debut during Friday's games. The board - which towers over Meredith Field - will allow for video playback at future soccer contests.
The 2010 NCAA Men's College Cup will kick-off on Friday with two semifinal games. No. 1 seeded Louisville will face No. 4 seeded North Carolina at 5:30 p.m. before No. 2 seeded Akron faces No. 10 seeded Michigan at 8 p.m. The championship game will be played at Sunday at 1 p.m.
Tickets are still available for purchase for the College Cup. All Session Passes - which include admission to both semifinal games and Sunday's 1 pm final - are still available for purchase. The All Session Pass is $40 for adults (ninth grade and above), $30 for youth (age four through eighth grade) and $20 for college students (with valid ID). All Session Passes for the Gold Zone section are sold out.
Single Day Passes are also available for purchase. Single Day Adult Passes are $25 and Single Day Youth Passes are $18.
